Novel Medical at ICONS 2024 Nuclear Security Conference

On May 22, 2023, Chengdu Novel Medical Equipment Co., Ltd., Novel Medical for short participated in a session discussing the donation of nuclear security equipment to the IAEA by the National Nuclear Security Technology Center (NSTDC). Novel Medical's donated panoramic gamma camera will be swiftly deployed to NSTDC and incorporated into training courses, providing annual training for over 1000 experts worldwide.


From May 20-24, 2024, the IAEA "Shaping the Future" Nuclear Security Conference took place in Vienna, with representatives from 122 member states. ICONS 2024 provided a global forum for ministers, policymakers, senior officials and nuclear security experts from various countries to discuss the future of nuclear security worldwide, whilst providing opportunities for exchanging information, sharing best practices and fostering international cooperation.


The conference featured ministerial and technical sessions, over 40 side meetings, and numerous technical discussions involving around 2000 delegates. The discussions revolved around nuclear material protection and future developments in nuclear security. The Chinese delegation which included nearly 60 representatives from various national agencies and institutions highlighted China's advancements in nuclear security policies, technology, and capacity building.


Novel Medical showcased four radiation monitoring and locating systems suitable for various applications. These systems, featuring gamma radiation source detection and timely alarm functions, are widely used in industries such as nuclear energy, customs, hospitals, military, environmental protection, and research institutions.


Novel Medical also presented on "Research and Development of A Nuclear Radiation Tracking And Positioning Imaging System For Nuclear Security," detailing a system based on deep learning algorithms for target recognition and tracking. This technology can accurately identify and track multiple targets and has substantial potential in high-traffic real-time monitoring scenarios such as customs and airports.
